Suitable data tariff

Monthly data traffic depends on how you configure your camera. When you use your camera to protect your home then you will be happy with 100MB data tariff a month. Examples below provide you more information.

Voice call and SMS should be also part of your tariff. You can control camera by voice call in voice menu. Camera can send you alarm reports by SMS. Receiving SMS is necessary to connect to the camera via internet in JabloTool.

Example 1: Camera at home

EYE-02 or EyeSee guards the entrance to your family house. You switch the camera to WATCH mode when you leave. When you come back you switch the camera to SLEEP mode. About once a month the camera reports intruder alarm. This is when you forget to switch the camera to SLEEP mode after coming home.

  1. You use camera with JabloTool Cloud. The maximum size of report is 300kB (it is default value).
  2. Camera reports alarms to the Cloud. You receive emails via Messenger; SMS and MMS messages sent by camera do not count into data traffic.
  3. Once a month you connect to the camera via internet in www.jablotool.com.
  4. Once in six months you update the SW of the camera via internet.
Monthly data traffic, Camera at home
Daily switching to WATCH mode 30*300kB (report to JabloTool Cloud) 9 MB
Daily switching to SLEEP mode 30*300kB (report to JabloTool Cloud) 9 MB
One intruder alarm 1*300kB (reporting to JabloTool Cloud) 0,3 MB
Access to camera via internet 1 MB
Firmware update 2,5 MB (only once a 6 months)
Total monthly traffic 21,8 MB / month

Example 2: Camera at cottage

Your camera watches a yard at your cottage where you store wood for winter. You do not need to receive alarm reports but you want to have evidence in case some wood was missing.

  1. You use camera with JabloTool Cloud. The maximum size of report is 300kB.
  2. You also use Watchdog. You want to be sure that communication with camera is not interrupted.
  3. Your camera remains in WATCH mode all the time.
  4. There are up to 6 intruder alarms a month, also when animals move around the wood.
  5. Camera reports all events only to JabloTool Cloud, you use Messenger to receive emails.
  6. You update the camera SW once in six months.
Monthly data traffic, Camera at cottage
6 intruder alarms = 6*300kB 1,8 MB
Monthly Watchdog data 2 MB
Update of camera firmware 2,5 MB (only once in 6 months)
Total monthly traffic 6,3 MB / month

Example 3: Camera monitoring parking lot

Camera monitors the current capacity of remote parking lot. Camera sends periodical reports every 5 minutes. It sends the reports to the JabloTool Cloud. You use Web camera to publish the current pictures on website.

  1. You do not connect to the camera via internet
  2. Camera remains in SLEEP mode all the time
  3. You update the camera SW once in six months.
Monthly data traffic, Camera monitoring parking lot
Number of periodical reports in one month 12 per hour*24*30 = 8640 reports
Size of one periodical report 70 kB (0,07 MB)
Firmware update 2,5 MB (only once a 6 months)
Total monthly traffic 607,3 MB / month

Data traffic billed by network provider

Some network providers may use a minimum data charge. For example, they may charge for 1kB of data even when the camera transferred only several bytes. The charged amount of data will then be higher than the real data traffic. The difference would be apparent when you use Watchdog. Please ask your network provider about the conditions.

How can you decrease data traffic on your camera?

  • Reduce undesired alarms by adjusting the detectors of your camera, follow FAQ here.
  • Activate Messenger service, follow FAQ here.
  • Decrease the maximum size of email and the size of report to Cloud storage. Connect to your camera in www.jablotool.com and choose Reporting -> Advanced -> Limits.
